What Sets Dr. Kouris Apart?
Exciting Transformation Process
Chicago Arm Lift At Midwest Plastic Surgery
Our upper arms lose firmness and shape for many reasons. Weight loss, age, genetics and other factors can cause upper arm sag. Exercise does much to help, but for many people it doesn’t fully restore upper arms to their younger, more toned appearance. In these cases, arm lift surgery is the answer for many.
Technically speaking, arm lift surgery is called brachioplasty. In removing loose, sagging skin from the upper arms and tightening weak underlying tissue, brachioplasty eliminates that “bat wing” look that can plague so many of us. Arms are revitalized, looking more toned and firm. Arm lift surgery makes the skin seem smoother, the contouring of the arm slimmer and restores good proportions to the upper arms.
Brachioplasty has been a standard of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery for decades. It targets unsightly “bat wings” by removing lose, inelastic skin that droops off the arm. It tightens and smoothes the supportive tissue that defines the contours below the skin, and reduces any localized fatty pockets in the upper arm region.
The Arm Lift Procedure
Anesthesia is required for an arm lift. Which type of anesthesia works best for you is one of the things that Dr. Kouris and you will talk about during your consultation.
While performing an arm lift, Dr. Kouris will make an incision that runs from the underarm to the elbow. The incision will be made either down the inside or the back of the upper arm. Occasionally, a smaller incision hidden in the axilla can be used instead of the long incision. Excessive skin is trimmed, fatty deposits are removed through liposuction and underlying tissues are tightened to improve tone. Depending on the extent of the hanging skin, there may be a need for Dr. Kouris to make added incisions.
What To Expect During Recovery
Results can be seen immediately after your arm lift. Your skin will appear fresher, smoother and tighter as soon as the procedure is done. It is quite normal to expect swelling and bruising, but this subsides and you’ll be fully enjoying the results in no time.
